I’m Fans with the android and shield tablet but we have problem her we need talking about this.
please any information.

The hope is that the next version of OpenGL (Khronos Group Announces Key Advances in OpenGL Ecosystem - The Khronos Group Inc) will reduce driver overhead! But Metal is unique in that Apple controls the hardware & software; Android being an open system, allows every manufacturer & carrier to do as they please :frowning:

The problem is that Android devices are competing with each other. Must unite characteristics by company NVIDIA and Google and selling a larger amount so that developers can rely on the specific characteristics.

what about directx 12? it is not useful for android. directx 12 low level api
there is any Cooperation between google and microsoft?

That’s even more unlikely…
However, just as Metal is pushing iOS (and making Android step up its game), the ES 3.1 + AEP extension pack for newer devices is a nice compromise!

AMD was quoted saying that they wanted to reach mobile devices with mantle. So one could hope for that!

the ES 3.1 + AEP extension pack for newer devices is a nice but what about future . Is there News or What android will do for Rivaling the metal.

That’s only good for processing performance. There was no indication that it will also include a graphic enhancement. Apple will also take this pleasure to include the 7XT to their upcoming new ipad air 3.

There are too many GPU vendors in Android ecosystem, its not a clear cut evolution like it was for Apple.

The problem with Android is that it cannot update the GPU firmware easily. Android 4.4 included an update to Play Store to update firmware but nothing seems to have come of it. No quick patches for SSL,… exploits nor to fix graphics driver bugs. Maybe late version of 5 or in Android 6 there will be better support to fix graphics driver bugs and make OpenGL functionality available. Right now you get a monolithic device, bugs and all for a couple years.

NVidia Shield tablet is exception, but its a dedicated gaming device.
