The only thing that keeps me from making the change is the perfomance comparison between the two engines. Unity 5 performs as fast as previous versions. Even udk was a resource hog. Once they figure a way to improve this they’ll have another costumer

Hey guys, i’m a one man team, graduated in 1999 in graphic design, worked for a decade for advertising companies and doing flash animations and games until it was killed off, then jumped into 3D using various engines (remember 3D Game Studio A3 and Torque) and been working with Unity PRO (PC/MAC license $1500, Indie licence for iOS and Andro) for some years now. I have absolutely no programming experience and was able to get by using PlayMaker (a visual scripting/ FSM plugin). Mainly archviz and product demos and simple 3D games, now i’ doing a mobile game and will finish it in Unity, but after the recent U5 announcement i felt more than offended about the “personal edition” and am considering not to upgrade to 5 Pro for another $750 (cant afford the additional PRO licenses for mobile yet) to get ‘made with unity personal edition’ on my mobile products, rendering them automatically unsellable.
For years i’ve admired UDK and UE4, but stayed away because of my lack of coding skills… last night i watched some Blueprint tutorials and feel like i might just surpass my fear and jump ship. I’m not young anymore and dont have the time and skill to spend 5 years learning new stuff, but UE4 looks just that great.
