Weird misalignments since new update

I’m just throwing this out here.
Since the new update, it happens quite often (say 1 out of 5 times) that when I re-align an image set that has worked fine several times, all of a sudden comes up as completely warped or parts intersecting or a tiny part within a much bigger part. Accompanied by impossible CP distribution and extremely high errors and all that.
I never noticed that behaviour before.
Has anybody made similar observations?

Hi Götz Echtenacher

So you see that CPs have weird, high reprojection errors after the realignment ?

Hi Wishgranter,

yes, but more notable is the weird intersecting geometry.
Bottomline is that RC coughs up an impossible solution from a dataset that worked unchanged before and works again after.
I always thought there is a randomness in the results, but lately they lead more often to those accidents than before.
Never thought of making screenshots though…

Had a similar problem recently, but I just started a new project, cleared cache, deleted the rcmeta file in the images directory and reseted back to default settings, then re-entered my previous settings, start alignment, all good. Never happened again after that

Hope that might help

Hey Jonathon,

thanks for the info!
It also worked out for me, even without all those measures.
My point here is not primarily to solve a specific problem, but to understand the mechanism better.
