Hey there @nommnnom! Face normals are basically where the “front” of each polygon is facing. This information is important to help the renderer know if a polygon is meant to be rendered or not and information on how to handle it. If incorrect you get issues similar to this but not just with Lumen.
Where did you create this slab? If you use blender as your modeling program you should be able to conform normals there:
