Way out of the loop, have tools progressed in the last 7 years?

I’m probably going to ask a lot of these ‘out of the loop’ questions, having returned to gaming after a long hiatus, and itching to make or mod something

Has there been any new animation tools come out? I have used 3dsmax a lot in the years prior, so am used to IK, just wondered if there is anything cool I could check out?

It’s on the marketplace, as is the very detailed YouTube videos/streams by Epic Games to watch.

Well being a fan of Daz Studio I’m having a lot of fun playing around with it as to some of the interesting animation tools it has since 4.15 now plays nice with it.

But

For the heavy lifting jobs it’s Motion Builder all the way. 3ds Max is nice but as far as animation goes is like digging a ditch when there is a perfectly good backhoe sitting next to you.
