Water

Hi everyone , I would like to know which method in your experience , would you use for water sims in a game engine , to get realistic looking water and smallish waterfalls .Like would you run a sim in another app like houdini,blender , or would you use in engine solutions , like particle systems or cheap tricks like flowmaps etc ? I have tried a few solutions except for importing sims but they are all very heavy. Its not for in game , but for a cut scene.

If you choose the right marketplace assets ( when they’re on offer :wink: ), you can come up with a pretty good water experience. I’m specifically thinking of things like

And you can get a long way with just animating UV maps

If you want to make lakes and the sea, the built-in water is fine. But for custom applications these kinds of things are better I find… Of course you can probably figure out what’s going on, and make your own.
