Hi,
I am making a game about boats, but I am struggling between using physics and the experimental water plugging or just make my own water system simulation. I feel like the second option will be less chaotic and heavy in comparison to the other one, but the first option looks really nice.
Any thought? Thanks in advance
Hi @Bhoutei
Let’s see…
Physics-based Water (Experimental Water Plugin):
Advantages: Realistic water effects, engaging, saves time with inbuilt features.
Disadvantages: Can be resource-intensive, harder to tweak, less control
Custom Water Simulation:
Advantages: Total control, more customizability, better performance with optimization.
Disadvantages: Timely, harder to achieve realism, higher risk
Decision Factors:
Choose the plugin if realism and performance are your priorities.
Choose a custom system if more control and more investment in development are your priorities
You could also consider a hybrid solution for the best of both worlds

How would you approach a hybrid water system? Do you know any good tutorials out there?
thanks
