Water in my island in UEFN

I have a problem in UEFN. On my map, I made a river that flows into the ocean and when I enter the river or drive a car, I swim, and when I enter the ocean, I don’t swim and go to the bottom. What should I do?

Hi Guli, Welcome to the Forums.

First as a quick check: do you have a Water volume placed for the ocean?

If not, there is a ‘Water’ device in the Devices folder.

What I mean is that the ocean initially formed around the island, not water from the water device. And you can’t swim in this ocean

Is it an ocean that is already included in one of the island templates?

If so, let me know which island template and how you’re creating a river and I’ll give it a try.

Yes, this is the ocean from the very large grid island template. I removed the grid and created l landscape. Then at some point I added a river and then the water physics disappeared. So I removed the river and it turned out it didn’t help.

How are you creating the river?

I did a quick test with water devices both inside and outside the ‘Water Zone’ volume and they both behave the same. (So I imagine a water device anywhere as a river should work)

I create a river like this: Content Browser/All/Fortnite/Environment/Water/River. I even removed the river and there is still a problem that you can’t swim in this ocean

In the Ocean, filter the settings with “Extents” check the Ocean Extents and the Collision Extents are larger than the Island you created, they will both show up as yellow squares on the surface of the water.
I forget the size of the XL, if you set the Ocean Extents to 160000, 160000 and the Collision Extents to 80000, 80000, 10240 that should be big enough for starters, then reduce or increase the size as needed for your game.

The other actor needed from the Outliner called Waterzone, should ideally be set to the same value as the Ocean Extents.

If your Extents are already big enough and you still cant swim inside the Extents, maybe delete the ocean and drop another one in from the Environment/Water folder.
