I’m having an issue with the Water Body River in Unreal Engine (version [specify your version]). As seen in the image, the water appears to glitch above the ground and overflow outside its intended borders instead of following the terrain properly.
Even when i move the river’s spline points I have this issue.
Has anyone encountered this issue before or knows a possible fix?
Hi Enoza, let me help you with this. Yes, this is a known and common issue when using the Water Body River in Unreal Engine, but we need to test different solutions.
Check the Landscape Layer
Make sure your river spline is set to correctly interact with the landscape
Adjust “Water Heightmap” Settings:
Go to landscape editing mode.
In the Edit Layers section, ensure your river uses a separate Landscape Layer or that the layer is correctly placed in the stack to properly deform terrain below the river.
Adjust Spline Points & Width Properly:
Your spline points may be too close together or too high above the terrain:
Move spline points slightly lower, just touching the terrain.
Increase spline “Falloff” distance to blend the edges smoothly.
Adjust spline point heights individually if necessary to follow the terrain curvature.
Make sure these settings are properly configured:
Setting
Recommended Value
Affects Landscape
Enabled
River Blend Mode
Min or Alpha Blend
Spline Falloff Distance
Adjust as needed (e.g. 500-2000 units)
Spline Height Offset
Slightly above landscape (just touching)
