These screenshots are what we call Vista shoots with the purpose to support the fantasy of playing a real board game with miniature figurines in a modeled landscape. To catch the angle of the shoots and the story between the figurines, is the primary concern.
Its about capture pretty moments that makes the viewer explore the situation and build his or hers own story to the situation.
At the moment we show these pictures on Twitter and facebook to direct attention on the Indiedb competition -Indie of the year.
It have been sometime since we made an update in the Unreal forum, we have been busy.
Busy setting WARTILE up for a Kickstarter Campaign.
The amount of work and preparation for launching a Kickstarter campaign can only be underestimated,
and the work with updates, feedback and promotion during the campaign, well its lots of work.
But here we are and its really inspiring to share and show your pet project with the world and see how the reaction is,
and for now its overwhelmingly positive.
If you are courioss to try out WARTILE here is your chance. During the Kickstarter Campaign we have a
Pre-Alpha Demo available to try out.
I’ve played the demo. I am sorry to hear the kickstarter was cancelled. After the demo I left very thorough feedback regarding the demo. I actually spoke with you via Facebook to see if you were hiring (you weren’t). I also tweeted out to you regarding VR. I have a great interest in this project and in addition to the lengthy feedback I gave you guys after the demo I want you to know that you have an incredible opportunity here with this genre and VR. I really think you are overlooking this subsection of pc gaming. This is the kind of style that is about as perfect as it can get for VR.
I never did get a tweet back regarding VR, but I tracked ya down here to try and really drive the idea home. You guys are doing great work, but I believe if you would have implemented VR support and billed your kickstarter to that enthusiast group of people you would have reached your goal easily. I hope you reconsider, because I want this game to make it to market.
Thanks for taking the time to give os feedback on the demo, its very useful for us in order to adjust our game design into the right direction. We are a very small team so I am sorry we didn’t get back to you on the Tweet.
We fully agree that Wartile is a great opportunity for a really cool VR game, the reason we have not already followed up on this, is that we are only two developers working full time on WARTILE and we are still busy developing key game features, art assets and making cool levels. So there is not much time left for making a VR prototype. But when the game is closer to completion and we know all the features and controls going into the game, we will look into making a good port to the VR platform.
We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded with the Unreal Dev Grant. This grant could not have come at a better time as we are at a very important crossroad. We are getting close to our targeted Early Access release on Steam and are looking for further funding for our development of WARTILE, now that we canceled the Kickstarter Campaign.
Thanks so much Epic Games & Unreal for standing behind us and believe we are meant to do greater things.
A few weeks ago we attended the Nordic Game Conference 2016 invited by Unreal / Epic to join them at their show area together with a handful of other really talented game developers using the unreal engine.
Being part of the Unreal showcase area was a great opportunity to meet a lot of new people, see them play the game and establish new connections both business related but also meeting other developers working hard to realize their dream projects.
We have shared a few photo’s of the event showing that anyone can play Wartile
Just wanted to share a screenshot from our Hillside battle board. A board made made with the mountain and winter theme, where snow, hard wind and rocks makes rough and unfriendly setting.
A Battle board that offers a very different experience both in game play and visuals than the Coastline board.
Our goal is to ensure that each board in one way or another offer the user a different experience and that each board stands out in his or hers memory.
Well to be honest it have been to long time since we updated our dev log, and no we have not been sitting on our hands, we have so much to show and tell that we will try to do it over a few posts here in December.
Everyday that passes, Wartile grows in content, features, polish and community. We still have a lot of work to do on Wartile, but we are almost ready to share the game with those of you who want to be an active part of its development, starting with the Closed Beta that we have been running for some time now, allowing us to learn more about your game experience when playing Wartile.
With the next major update, we focus on the multiplayer experience, introducing a better quick match system and Steam friend invites. We hope to see enough players enough players in the next round of the Closed Alpha so people have a chance to meet up in a honor full dual.
Helgafjell is a holy place and close to the gods of the North, therefor nearby Viking clans fight for the control of the mountain top in a effort to earn the attention and respect from their gods.
The Game mode is just like domination where relics points will drop on a tile from the sky and each team have to hold the tile for an amount of time before it turns into a point. The team first reaching five points have impressed the gods, and lighting from the almighty Thor will strike down those not worthy :).
Times fly by and we have again left our development log unattended, still we would love to share our progress of releasing a game from Concept to final version with all of you.
In order not to loose to many events since December 2016 and up til now, we will describe some of our more important steps regardless of when it actually happened.
One huge event was when we entered Early Access on Steam the 17th march, about 3-4 weeks later than we first anticipated. Do not under evaluate the polishing and bug fixing period of even smaller games and we had even been in a closed alpha state for a long time. The moment you ask people money in order to play your product, its a whole new level of polish and stability that is required, also in a Early Access state.
For the release we worked together with a PR company called Plan of Attack who was really helpful in handling all editorial matters. Something that we didn’t have bandwidth to deal with ourself still being a small studio with only 3 full time developers.
The reception of Wartile in its Early Access was really great, still the following two weeks was exclusively concentrated on fixing bugs as they where reported, many of those bugs where in our players hardware or software setup. Something that is really hard to test with just a small team of testers.
The Early Access release of Wartile was a big success in many ways and we managed to hit a steam review score of 90% for the first many weeks.
Recently we had a major update to Wartile that included a huge art update on most of our 2D graphics in all the cards in the game. Our freelancer illustrator Julijana made a incredible job in painting all the different types of cards we have in Wartile.
Below you can see the results from before and after, it really brings lots of life, lore and personality to the game.
Hello ,
thanks for all those updates! I am really looking forward to this game. In fact, I’ve been searching the web and my browser history for a few weeks now to dig it out again.
I do have a few questions, though:
Will it be available on GOG.com as well?
Will it be possible to create additional maps or mod it?
And last: please really think about adding VR support. I know it will not be easy, but I think it would go well together with this kind of game.
