I’m having a problem with a material instance that’s supposed to be showing a video. I have two identical material instances. One is working, the other one isn’t. Both are playing HAP videos. The one that isn’t working, I get a warning: “media samples as External”. I’ve attached screen shots of both material instances. Anyone got any idea what’s going on here?
I’ve swapped the videos round that each uses. The material instance that wasn’t working still isn’t working, so it’s not down to the video file. I also tried deleting the material instance and creating it again, but still the same
It’s seems like the issue is to do with the media player. I’m now unable to create a media player that will show in a texture. They are all marked as “External” somehow. This seems like a serious bug and my project is unusable now. The project was migrated from 5.2 to 5.3 and only media players created before the migration work.
Right. I’ve worked it out. When you make a new Media Player in 5.3, the Media Texture it creates has “Enable new style output” auto-checked. This seems make it unusable. Just turn it off and it works again
