Warning known issues with graphic driver

I have an old gtx 660 and the driver suggested in the warning message isn’t supported for my system. I m a beginner and just want to play around with Unreal engine. Within the software itself I get that popup that say advanced rending features like Nanite and Virtual shadow maps will be preventing from working.

Do I need to switch to direct x 11? If so how and in what manner it will affect my experience with playing with the software?

Hi there @Kranos_CG

Welcome to the Unreal Forum! The limitations are based on the GPU itself rather than DirectX. The 660 was from 2012, I believe. It wouldn’t have the hardware support for newer features. You could probably run UE4 without as much issue. But, I don’t think the 660 is recommended for UE5. I hope that helps answer your question.

Thanks! I think I’ll have to deal with this until I upgrade my system and get to know Unreal better. I’m not really interested in real-time rendering and nanite. Im more of amodeling and motion graphics individual coming from 3ds amx and Cineam 4d background. I was hooked up by the fresh new interface of UE5 and the awesome development and roadmap of the engine with good progrees on modeling and motion graphic side. Can I do certain settings within unreal to cope with my hardware limitations at the moment?
