CINEMATIC SHOWCASE VIDEO
I am only seeing smoke, no flames, when I import the Niagara to my level. If I open the showcase level it works fine. Any suggestions?
Had the same issue, and found the cause. The showcase level has a Post Process Volume with Metering Mode set to Manual and Exposure Compensation at 10.0. The flames are balanced for that very high exposure in a dark scene. In a normal daylit level with auto exposure, the flame part ends up far too dim to see, while the smoke is lit by the sun and still shows up. You can confirm it by unticking Exposure Compensation in the showcase level: the flames almost disappear.
What worked for me, without touching my level’s lighting:
- Duplicate N_FlameAttack so the original stays intact.
- Open the copy and select the Flame-Smoke emitter.
- Under Particle Update, select Scale Color and expand the Scale RGB color.
- Push the values well above 1. I ended up around R 30, G 5, B 1, which gives a strong orange-yellow flame in daylight. Pure white values tend to blend into a bright background, so keep red high and blue low.
- Tune the numbers in your actual level, since the Niagara preview has its own lighting.
One more tip if you attach it to a character: the emitter has a Collision module, so if it spawns inside a mesh (like a mouth), the particles hit that mesh and spray backwards. Spawning it slightly in front of the mesh fixes it.
Great free pack, by the way. Hope this helps!
