VR Weapons Kit

Thanks a lot for spending time on this. I shall download and test the APK. I am currently removing UE4.25 to reinstall it.

Also the UE4.26.1 was just released and I see this in the fixes list:
*Fixed! UE-103058 Quest 2: 2D scene capture causes app to crash if lighting is not rebuilt"

I still need to test the UE4.25.4 prebuilt APK for the SceneCapture2DTest you sent. But before doing that I have tried to build your SceneCapture2DTest with the UE4.26.1 and it works fine.

Well your prebuilt APK works fine as well.

I wasn’t aware of that Quest 2 bug with the unbuilt lighting, have you tried rebuilding the lighting in 4.25.4 then launching to your Quest?

So i have tried once again to build the VR Weapon Kit sample project after a fresh reinstall of UE4.25.4 and rebuilding of the lighting. I get the exact same crash, even when setting the resolution of the render target to 16x16.

Okay this is very strange, I’m running out of ideas but I still have a few more theories:

  1. Our projects may be using different settings - sometimes when opening zipped projects or marketplace projects, UE4 can revert some settings back to default. To test this please can you send me your project and I’ll compare the project settings with mine to see if anything has changed?
  2. We are using the same version of UE4 but could be using different versions of Android Studio. Please can you open Android Studio, go to Help > About and check the version you are using

  3. Please can you send me your packaged project and I’ll test it on my Quest? The crash may only affect Quest 2 but I’d be interested to see if it does crash on my Quest.

I am using the exact same version of Android Studio. I’ll make sure to send you the project and a built APK.

I am glad that everything appears to work with UE4.26.1 though, at least for now.

Hi Adam, I have had to put the development on my Oculus Quest 2 shooting game on halt for several weeks due to the lack of free time. My main activity is doing freelance VFX work and I have been commissioned several weeks in a row to work on various music videos. I apologize for not coming back to you earlier.

I am now back to the game project. Everything works fine with the UE4.26 so I wouldn’t want to bother you with the UE4.25 anymore.

You had mentioned a new update of the VR Weapon Kit, originally due out end of february 2021 if I am correct. I was especially looking forward to trying the pump action shotgun which you told me about. Do you have an ETA for this new release?

Hi @deckars No problem, that’s good to hear.

Apologies for the delay on the update, there was a few more things I wanted to add. I’m still working on it now but it should be ready by the end of the week/early next week.

This message just keeps appearing even after I run ‘DisableAllScreenMessages’. I have no idea how to to remove it and it is extremely frustratin. Please help. @xadamxful
