VR Performance in TM 2023.2

Dear developers, the VR performance in the latest release 2023.2 seems to have suffered dramatically.

We’ve tested the Automotive Studio Sample Scene as well as our own scene on two machines now:

16x Ryzen + RTX 3090 + HP Reverb G2
24x i7 13700K + RTX 4080 + HP Reverb G2

with high and low quality settings. The VR view is laggy, wobbly and slow. We’ve tested both Direct X12 and 11.

However, the previous release, 23.1.2, was great. We had no issues there and an amazing performance even with high settings.

Is this a bug that will be fixed or is problem to stay due to a transition in the render engine?

We’ve invested in a TM license specifically for client VR presentations, which are not bearable anymore with the latest build.

Thanks!

Hello,
We’ve been alerted to performance concerns in VR, this will be a focus topic for our forthcoming hotfixes.

Any update on progress. Same issues.

I still have the same problem. I was using TM 2023.2.2 to render because of lumen but i was forced to downgrade to 2023.1.2 cause VR works fine there. Any updates?

Thanks a ton… essentially Lumen is the issue…!! I spent a week exploring other possibilities for stereoscopic VR including D5 (needs refinement) and Unreal (not feasible for arch viz VR. It doesn’t have camera parallax correction…!)
Epic games have to speedily resolve lumen and then we are all happy…!
