Vr multiplayer game best practices question

Greetings,

I’m creating a VR game destined for company’s activities. We bring around 4 Oculus Quest 2 consoles to the destined location, divide the group into 4 teams, and make a game where they should work together.

The game consist of a labyrinth filled with riddles, the rest of the team has to direct the player in the VR to help them complete riddles and finally escape. As they finish the game, they transcend into an online lobby where they can do some activities (like basketball) until everybody is in, and eventually solve a puzzle together.

Now, I was wondering about the best practices to make the online part. Right now I’m planning to have the labyrinth offline, when the first player finish he host the server and the rest join (Searching for LAN servers as they finish, if there are none he host one, if there is one, he joins).
Is it the best way to go about it?
Would by better if the game was online to begin with?
Have any other idea to make it function correctly?

It’s important to note that most players are experiencing VR for the first time, so I can’t ask them to do something special, and the operators are also rookies.
So it must by super simple.

Thanks in advance!
