About Us

QByte Studios is an Australian indie game studio dedicated to creating innovative and immersive gaming experiences. We currently operate on a volunteer basis, united by our passion for building great games together. While we do not generate revenue at this time, we are committed to compensating all team members if we transition to a commercial model in the future.

Our flagship project, Nanites, is a cooperative zombie builder survival game that combines strategic building mechanics, intense combat, and a compelling narrative. With a semi-realistic visual style, Nanites draws inspiration from titles such as Fortnite: Save the World, Days Gone, and Lethal Company.

We’re looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help bring Nanites to life! Don’t worry if you’re not at the top of your field or have years of experience—what matters most is your enthusiasm and willingness to grow with us.


Volunteer Roles

1. 3D Artists

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed character models, weapons, and environmental assets.
  • Use tools like Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max to produce high-quality models.
  • Optimize assets for performance in Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with animators and level designers for seamless integration.

Requirements:

  • Experience with 3D modeling, UV mapping, and texturing.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine asset workflows.

2. Programmers

  • Responsibilities:
    • Develop gameplay mechanics, AI behavior, and game systems using Unreal Engine’s Blueprints.
    • Debug and optimize game performance.
    • Collaborate with designers to implement gameplay features.
  • Requirements:
    • Proficiency in Unreal Engine Blueprints (C++ is a bonus but not required).
    • Problem-solving skills and a passion for creating immersive gameplay.

3. Sound Engineers

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement immersive sound effects and ambient audio.
  • Create high-quality audio assets for weapons, footsteps, and environmental sounds.
  • Work with the development team to ensure audio complements gameplay.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine’s audio system.
  • Ability to produce high-quality sound effects and music.

4. Animators

Responsibilities:

  • Rig and animate characters, creatures, and objects for realistic movement and interactions.
  • Create smooth and polished animations for combat and environmental interactions.
  • Use Unreal Engine’s animation tools to integrate animations into the game.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in character rigging and animation.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine animation workflows.

5. Level Designers

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build engaging levels using Unreal Engine’s tools.
  • Create layouts that support gameplay mechanics and narrative progression.
  • Collaborate with artists and programmers to bring levels to life.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine’s level editor and landscape tools.
  • Strong understanding of level flow and player engagement.
