Video memory has been exhausted in Unreal Engine 5

I created a blank project in Unreal 5.3.2
In order to do so, I unselected every option on project creation screen and created a blank project as shown below.

Despite that some landscapes got added to the level, wondering what is the meaning of blank project then. Nevertheless, I was getting the “Video memory has been exhausted” error everytime I start unreal and there was horrible lag. I turned the scalability setting to low in the toolbar and the error went away.

However, I created a new blank level and it thankfully had no landscapes in it, still the error kept coming back about the video memory. I have a good capacity external GPU connected to my system, why do I keep getting this error then ? I have tried all the other solutions posted ion this forum, nothing has worked so far. How do I fix it, I am unable to work at all.

What is the GPU? You really need 8GB upwards

I was able to run 5.2 on my 2GB GPU. In installed 5.3 and it started dying.

I’m amazed that ran at all

You might get somewhere if you turn the scalability down to medium

I had turned it to low, as shown in screenshot above. Why is blank project creating landscape though ?

You get that as the default level. You can make your own without a landscape.
