Hi there, I have the error pop up when I click on the texture of the object and I can’t work out why.
My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (8C/16T, 4.4 GHz Max Boost)
RAM: 64GB
Storage: 1TB SATA SSD (on the motherboard)
Motherboard: Tomahawk B450
PSU: Corsair RM750x 750 Watt
GPU: AMD 5700XT ( latest drivers installed)
Version: 5.4.1-33305029+++UE5+Release-5.4
Platform: Windows 11 (23H2) [10.0.22631.3593] (x86_64)
Also, the new material generating in the material preview window (even changing the color) can last up to 6 seconds. Then applying that takes about 10 seconds.
Can anyone help? I’m going crazy here trying to work out why.
It’s 160MB over, but it’s still a pain, I know, I have it every day.
You’ve got 8GB VRAM, I also only have 6
I think you’ll find if you restart the editor, it’s fixed, right?
I’m afraid it’s related to how much stuff has been loaded on the GPU. The longer you run the editor, especially if you’re looking at a lot of different assets, the more it will happen.
Textures and Lumen are to blame, I suspect. I don’t get why the editor doesn’t flush the cache every now and then…
The error certainly makes it sound like its a memory problem.
I get this on both of my systems, A high end workstation with an RTX 4070 and an old laptop with GTX 1050 and 8gb of RAM. The task manager shows that I’m using 1% of the GPU memory on both systems.
