Video file extensions not recognized

See attached screenshot. Whenever I try to import a video file, it says the extension is not recognized. This has been true for avi, mp4, mpeg2. It seems the problem is related to this specific machine. Any advice appreciated.

Can you go to Edit → Plugins → Media Players and check whether WMF Media Player is enabled?

Thanks for the guidance. The WMF Media Player is already enabled and we are able to play the video on the machine, just not able to import it into UE. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 4.11.0. Still get extension is not recognized when we drop in a video. We tried AVI, WMV and MP4, all the same error. Any other thoughts?

Sorry, I gave you the wrong plug-in. Please check if Edit → Plugins → Editor → Media Player Editor is enabled! It contains the factories for Media assets.

That is enabled, but still have the same issue. I am running Windows 10 Pro N and have installed the Media Foundation SDK. Any other suggestions?

Very odd. I think the only way this can happen is if, for some reason, the MediaPlayerEditor plug-in isn’t being loaded.

Can you please attach the Editor’s log file? It will be the newest .log file in /YourProject/Saved/Logs

I looked in the log file and it gave me the clue we needed. I am working on figuring out how to install the WMF libraries as we speak.

“LogWmfMedia: Failed to load mf.dll
LogWmfMedia: Failed to load required Windows Media Foundation libraries”

Try this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48231

Thank you again. I installed both the 32 and 64 bit version and still have the same issue. Wonder if this is an issue with Windows Pro 10 N.

OK, you have to install this update in order to get the mf.dll and mfplay.dll’s to install. Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N and Windows 10 KN editions (November 2015) - Microsoft Support
