Video capturing

Hello,

I’m not in the archviz field but this time I thought it’s probably as my question from you archviz guys.
What is your pipeline for creating high res/quality videos from your UE4 scenes?

I have tried the matinee capture to Avi but that’s horrible. I have tried capturing with third party software as well but result is never smooth. Really huge file sizes are another problem of the workflows I mentioned.
I have tried rendering an image sequence and merging in Apple’s quick time but not happy with the quality there either and it also didn’t work for 4k screens.

I wonder how people like koola make really nice and smooth videos.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Use the matinee recorder and export in jpg sequence or png, it will be way better

Like I said, quick time didn’t do a good job for me. What’s the best software to stitch them together?

Try Virtual Dub, it’s free. Make sure to set the same frame rate.

Hi,

Hope that will help you. I tried many soft (OBS, Virtual Dub, Shadowplayer, Afterbuner, Xsplit etc) and always losts frames in the video… The problem is : my computer is not enough powerfull !!

(think you start UE4, read your disk, write on it in the same time)

I use now a ELGATO HD60, it works perfect (if you have a second computer, you can capture from it, it’s better)

1/ param your matinee on load game and repeat
2/ generate your game.exe
3/ close UE and start your exe (open your console if necessary for fix resolution, fullscreen, framerate, streaming poolsize…) try r.vsync 1 in your console for fix framerate
4/ capture with ELGATO (it detect your framerate and resolution)

if you don’t want to buy a Elgato, try with OBS, it’s free, you can find tutorial on youtube, it’s work fine too)
