FYI, I tried pumping all the video frames VEX landscape shots through RC and then using those models in match-moving software as basis for a object solve. It works great in almost all match movers. I would suggest giving this a shot if you do visual effects. If you export as FBX you have a motion path in Maya and Max. If you use or write a script that bakes in one camera for all the cameras in the scene frame to frame, this circumvents the need for match moving all together. I am taking a break from VFX work, but I would love to see more people trying this out. One many shots it can be much faster than match-moving.
I’ve tried video. My results where sub par though. I want to try on 8k footage.
Well you need better than 8bit, properly exposed, and minimal rolling shutter. Prores and Raw frames seem to work, h264, not so much. Also, no crops.
I was thinking Red camera
The Red raw works great. Even the RED has rolling shutter even though the DOP will get violent if you tell them. Convert the raw frames to 16bit tiff. I got some good stuff, will post.
