So I have some old footage that I want to put UE 5.1 through the paces with to test out traditional VFX workflows. I have a series of pre-keyed GS Shots edited together and have the Match-moved cameras and back plates imported into the sequencer. I added the image plate component to each camera and have the media tracks in place with the corresponding image sequences assigned.
The issue I have is that once I place each shot into a master-level sequence the performance tanks and sometimes UE crashes during playback. Now what I noticed is that there are no issues when inside each individual shot, the plate appears to cache and the playback is smooth after it was suggested to turn on “Only See Owner” So now I’m trying to fix the performance on the Master Level Sequence
One thing to mention is that I have several cameras in the level with the Image plates added to the frustum, and I notice that the media texture material is replicated across each of the cameras at al times.
Is there an issue or a bug with the way the Master Level Sequence caches the nested shots? Can I hide the other cameras? I’m also wondering how to use the new 5.1 media caching system with the image plate/frustum setup.
Any ideas on the best approach would be appreciated
