Very general (and stupid) question about AI...

I know this isn’t the best question to ask, but I’m hoping someone may have a quick idea where to start looking for real answers so here goes.

What changed in AI that would break working AI from 4.3 to 4.7?

See, stupid. Long story short, I took some time off from a platformer project that worked as of 4.3 or 4.4 and updating it to 4.7, the AI stopped moving. Very simple setup to get them patrolling back and forth on platforms ala Mario style. I used a tutorial, maybe one of Peter Newton’s, I can’t remember and got them working with very basic AI trees using blackboard, etc.

As stated before, I’m hoping someone might be able to say ‘oh yea, they added that check-box that tells the AI to work or not in 4.6, look in there’ or something slightly more realistic.

I’ll begin digging into it more this week, but hoping for a hail mary to help figure out where to start. Thanks

While I do not know the answer to your question, I do know that there have been significant upgrades to the AI system in the recent version of 4.8.1 that you may consider upgrading your game to. There is an Environment Query System (EQS) in place that could possibly make your life a bit easier.

Food for thought.

Good to know. I think I’ll just need to start over and see if the same tutorial will work even. If not, I’ll just have to find new tutorials or another way of doing the AI. Thanks for the infos.
