Very dark, sharp and blocky shadows appear after the lightning build is being finished

Hi, I tried several times, but every time I find this strange thing to occur:

When I go for the lightning build, then it happens, that some sharp, blocky and very dark shadows appear on my levelmesh. I tried to get rid of them by lighting them up with some soft point lights, but when I drag and drod a point light on the map, then editor inmediatelly crashes and throws me out to dektop ( editor seems to be freezed then ). Can this be caused by my mesh ? I am using an old version of FBX exporter ( 3ds Max 2010 ) too.

I have re-imported my levelmesh for several times and it is looks the same.

Please take a look:

Hey wielkiczarnyafgan,

Is this entire outdoor level one entire mesh?

If so, this could be the cause of your issue. Generally you want to break up a mesh this large so you can get the most efficient ‘Lightmap Resolution’ possible in your UV space.

I would also try updating your 3ds Max exporter to the binary of 2013 or 2014 as this could also help resolve your issue. I would try splitting up your level into multiple pieces and importing them as a combined mesh so they can maintain their own respective Lightmaps, but are all one single mesh.

Hope this helps, but if you are still unsure of what to do let me know and I can make a few more suggestions.

Thanks,

Hi, Yes the mesh is one, big model. I will divide it into two or more pieces, then build the lightning and try again. I will also try to update my 3ds max. Thank you
