Vertex paint with duplicated static meshes

Hello, I am studying 3D environment modeling.
I saw a video about Vertex paint.
In the video, three static meshes using the same material are edited with different masks.
How is this possible?

I think, Static meshes using the same UV map (and material) should show the same results.

If I paint one of those 3 meshes, doesn’t the other mesh get painted at the same time?

Should I replicate static mesh and materials 2 times in my content browser?

Please help me!

It just happens by default.

If you drag a mesh into the scene, and duplicate it. You can paint them individually.

Are you having a different experience?
