I'm getting quite confused with the different versions available and the intercompatibility between those. Could someone shed some light on this?
As far as I can tell:
Revit version untill Revit 2023 will be compatible with TM 2022. (With the datasmith exporter installed)
Revit 2024 will be compatible with TM2023 (datasmitch exporter is built-in in Revit 2024)
When you try to usse 'open in Twinmotion' from a Revit 2023 file, when you have Twinmotion for Revit version 2023(.1.2) installed it will give a message 'Twinmotion is not installed)
Am i overlooking something? Or is this the expected behaviour?
Compatibility between the Twinmotion versions and Revit versions is dependent on the version of Datasmith being used. Hopefully the breakdown below is clear:
For Twinmotion 2023.1.2 and newer, you will need to utilize Datasmith version 5.1.1 or newer (We recommend using the latest version 5.2).
Datasmith 5.1.1 and 5.2 are available for Revit 2018.3 up to Revit 2023 through the Datasmith plugins, downloadable from https://www.twinmotion.com/en-US/plugins/revit
For Revit 2024, Datasmith 5.2 is built into the program and no additional plugin installation is necessary.
For Twinmotion 2022.2.3, it is compatible with Datasmith up to version 5.0.3. Newer versions of Datasmith beyond 5.0.3 won't work with this version of Datasmith.
Datasmith 5.0.3 is compatible with Revit 2018.3 up to Revit 2023 through the Datasmith plugin at the page linked above.
Revit 2024 is not compatible with Twinmotion 2022.2.3 as it only supports Datasmith 5.2.
I hope that helps clarify things regarding Datasmith versions.
For the Open in Twinmotion button issues you are experiencing, I recommend contacting Autodesk Revit support, as this feature is built and maintained by them.
