I’ve installed previous versions of the game engine without trouble. But the current version downloads completely, but then fails during the installation. I have no idea why. I’m using the latest version of windows 10 and have plenty of hard drive space.
I’ve tried completely uninstalling the engine and the launcher, then re installing the launcher but the game engine still fails to install.
We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please try the suggestion that I mentioned above then post back here with the requested info.
There seems to be a bug in the Launcher. What I did to resolve the issue was to set the 4.10 version as Current. However, after doing that do not click on the same button to Install, instead, click on the large Install button on the top left of the screen and your install should continue.
This solved the problem for me, after nothing else would - THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Seriously though, why is the launcher so buggy that this issue would ever be allowed to happen? It’s embarrassing…
I haven’t tried this myself yet but perhaps try running the Unreal Editor executable directly. You will find it under \Epic Games\4.10\Engine\Binaries\Win64\UE4Editor.exe. If that doesn’t work try running it as Administrator.
