Vehicle sounds? (not logic)

So I have the little racing game I’m making to learn the engine, and things are going well with allot of help from the forums. (Thanks guys!) I have working audio, a car, basic network stuff (just played online with a buddy last night), and working on learning main menus, and in game settings etc etc. But I really need new engine sounds and I’m pretty much broke.

I have been using the engine sound files from the VehicleGame demo provided by Epic and while it has taught me allot, I really want my car to NOT sound like a diesel anymore lol.

So question: On an extremely tight budget…near 0 actually. What is the best way for me to record engine sounds so that I can import them into the developer? I may be able to make a wind buffer out of some old cloth lying around, but I really don’t have much in the way of a good mic. Or access to engines larger than an I4 to record. Heck I made a placeholder turbo BOV sound by shooting an old air compressor into a pen cap to give a whistle haha.

Anyone interested can see the progress of the game here so far. (I am also not a modeler but have friends attempting to help me so there are allot of placeholder models and stock models.)
