When placing vegetation, the preview window does not close, which interferes with the work.

This is a known issue and it is in our roadmap to get it fixed.
At this time we are not able to provide an estimated date for the fix to be released.
The best way to avoid this situation is to drag and drop the object instead of selecting it.
If you want to add multiple instances of the same tree, you could use the vegetation paint and/or vegetation scatter tools.

Yes please! This has been annoying for some time.
Thank you Francesco for the work-around, didn't realize not selecting the tree first would avoid calling up the thumbnails.
