Vector displacement maps are generally supported. Here’s a quick little test with a .exr vdm texture created in Mudbox. This setup has a limitation though, you cannot rotate the mesh.

I think the vector displacement above is applied to the world position so it displaces in world space no matter the orientation of the object the material is placed on. If I’m correct a conversion would be necessary to have the displacement apply to the position of the mesh surface.
If you guys check out my latest work in Map Generator v3 thread I use the world displacement to bend my flat map into a sphere. Thanks to Ian Shadden for helping on that. The thread actually has the material uploaded into it if you want to take a look. I think it is in one of the last couple pages.
