Valenciennes, North of France, Unreal Engine Meetup!

5p.m - 7 p.m (or late)

Bonjour everyone!

This is the third edition of the Valenciennes UE4 Meetup! (Valenciennes is in North of France). We kept them a bit private last year to try it, and now we’re ready to welcome you!

The plan is to show off your demos or anything you’ve learned/made with UE4 that could be cool to share! So, bring your stuff.

The meeting is hosted on the fresh new Supinfogame’s campus (french school dedicated to video game careers) called “la Serre Numérique”.

Quite awesome place.
However, I have only one room to welcome you, so the number of people is limited right now. We’ll see for the next time. But we’ll have a projector :wink:

We’ll be there from 5p.m to 7p.m and you could go drink a beer or eat something after that :wink:

Valenciennes, Nord, Unreal Engine Meetup!

Bonjour à toutes et à tous!

Voici la troisième édition de notre **Unreal Dev Meeting à Valenciennes **(Nord de la France). Nous avons gardé les deux premières un peu secrètes pour essayer et nous sommes prêts à vous accueillir!

L’idée est que ceux qui le souhaitent raménent leur demo de projet ou tout autre chose que vous avec appris ou fait avec l’UE4 qui pourrait être cool à montrer. Donc ramenez vos projets.

Le meeting sera organisé sur le** nouveau campus de Supinfogame **(école spécialisée dans la formation aux métiers du jeu vidéo) appelé “la Serre Numérique”. (Voir la photo plus haut). C’est assez agréable comme endroit, et c’est tout neuf.

Toutefois, je n’ai qu’une salle de dispo donc des places limitées. On verra pour les prochaines fois. Mais il a de quoi projeter.

Nous ferons ce meeting de 17h (environ) à 19h et puis on pourra aller boire un verre ou manger quelque chose après pour ceux qui veulent.

Très bonne initiative, ça fait plaisir des évents francophone !
Valenciennes c’est presque à la frontière Belge à 2h de Paris ? Malheureusement, je ne suis pas sur Paris en ce moment . Comptez-vous diffuser l’événement , les projets etc. sur Youtube ou autre ?

C’est bien ça, Valenciennes est un plus bas que Lille, près de la frontière avec la Belgique.

Je pense pas tout filmer, mais pour sur je posterai un récap de l’événement détaillé en essayant d’y mettre des screenshots et des vidéo de démo. Et bien sur, je poste pas mal de photo en direct sur tweeter pour nos amis d’Epic.
J’avais déjà fait un petit récap des événements précédents.

January meeting is over, see you in February

Hey everyone,

So, the January meeting took place yesterday and here is a quick recap of what we’ve done and seen:

  • We first took a look at a shader for a rotation planet effect from the CloseCall project (formerly Drift)(student project), thanks to Benoît. They also shared some of there optimization issues and everyone tried to give some clues to resolve them;

  • Then, Rémi showed us some cool thing about animation blending, how they work and how to use them;

  • I talked about the quick scenes I made few weeks ago and that brought some discussions about many subjects like:

    • Environment lighting
    • Landscape
    • Tips for easy special effects
    • More optimization

This is it for this time.

Hello,

sadly I couldn’t come to assist this event as I saw this thread a bit late (the day before). I hope I’ll be able to come next time. BTW, 17h is too early IMHO, as this is when most of people end their working day :wink: It makes it hard to be there when the event starts.

But this is great to organize such things in Valenciennes! Keep the good work on!

Now my question: are there any uploaded videos of the talks of the participants?

Sorry Zoubi, the Unreal dev meetings are not recorded. But you can ask here for screenshots of our projects or ask some questions about the topics we discussed about :slight_smile:
Furthermore, we are speaking in french so lots of people won’t probably understand what we are saying ^^.

17pm is when we start (and this is because we have a room in this building until 19pm), it doesn’t mean you have to be there at 17pm :wink: and we may go take a drink after ahah
