UV maps overlapped help why...



No matter what i make in blender… my UVs look retarded…
1st… Are UV’s like this a problem, I beleive i read somewhere, it is a problem - just looking for confirmation.

2nd… what could i be doing wrong… I literally went through each face and hooked each Vert up incase i had overlapping/not joint faces… why does it do this…
one image is smart unwrap and another is just normal unwrap.

please advise.

To get the best results you should make the seams by hand or at least use a filter to find sharp edges if you want to automate the process. Then unwrap and pack the islands with a margin.
