Hello, I have been using UE5 for a couple years now and have a question. I am developing a TTRPG based on a Cyberpunk setting that I plan to release as a paid pdf. My question can I render out a scene in Unreal using assets from the Marketplace (Including the Paragon Assets), and use those rendered scenes in a TTRPG that is going to be sold as a PDF? Thank you.
■■■■, cool idea. I’d be interested in the answer as well.
Hey there @Digital.Zen! Welcome back to the community! The short answer is yes! The paragon assets are under the same license as learning content or assets from Epic. If you render in Unreal, you can use that render commercially. The long answer is complicated, there are however stipulations that I’d recommend you review in the EULAs.
Hello, thank you for the answer. Quick question. What is the policy for using Paragon character names? and card images? I found a collection of card images for download and just wanted to double check if you can use them? Thank you again.
That gets a bit more complex of an answer. So specifically the assets epic released are what’s covered here, any assets ripped that weren’t included in the game packs that were given out may not be covered by the license. I am not a lawyer, nor do I represent Epic in any legal ramification, this is just my speculation.
On description the paragon packs:
UE-Only Content - Licensed for Use Only with Unreal Engine-based Products. Without a custom license you cannot use to create sequels, remasters, or otherwise emulate the original game or use the original game’s trademarks, character names, or other IP to advertise or name your game.
Though it seems games like Predecessor got a license or permission to use the names directly.
