Using third party anamorphic camera with Take Recorder.

I’m trying to use Take Recorder for the first time - but I just don’t know how to set it up so that I have the camera I want recording the action. I’m not understanding the process even though I’m sure I’m merely neglecting a simple step or two.

How do I ensure my positioned camera - be it my favoured Anamorphic DoF or any camera of my choice is recording the take? How do I bypass / disable the default camera game view?

Many thanks.

I’m not an expert like some here, but I’ve fought with Take Recorder enough, that I might be able to help.

Take Recorder isn’t a camera per se. It just records the animation of the character or object you’ve put in it, so that can be an animated item or character animation to be “filmed”, so to speak, in Sequencer later. It’s in Sequencer you want to put your anamorphic camera. I’m pretty sure you don’t need a camera in your scene at all to use TR.

So you’d set up your characters ior whatever you want to record the motions/animations of, open take recorder, and hit record on it and play for your animations. Then close take recorder, set up a cinematic sequence, and apply what take recorder did to your object or character. Then set up your anamorphic camera however you want, and what it sees is what you see in your final render.

If I’m understanding the problem right, maybe that will help. I find the TR to be the least intuitive and most frustrating of the process, and avoid using it whenever I can.

Onward! :hugs:
