We’ve been using the promoted UE branch for our development, but we haven’t seen an update since 29th July. Meanwhile there have been lots of updates to release, 4.9 and Master.
Is there going to be a new release of the promoted branch anytime soon (with fixes). As this is on 4.10 we are stuck as we can’t downgrade to 4.9 and Master has always seemed to influx to use.
Should we abandon our use of the promoted branch and go with the Master? We originally went with Promoted as it contained updates that we needed for our projects.
Around the end of July we started a new internal process for how we manage our UE4 Main branch, and that involved moving away from the traditional Promoted builds. Obviously we haven’t updated our GitHub branches yet to account for this new system, but we aim to review that this week to determine if we can tie GitHub to our new process.
I cannot say at this time when that may be ready by (or if it will be viable). Obviously we do not recommend developing out of the Master branch, but it may be the only option available to you at this time if you want the latest updates available. And of course, we encourage the use of source control software, especially if working with the Master branch.
I’ll follow up here when new information is available.
Hi Stephen, Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately we can’t go to the Master branch as the are no applicable private binaries for PS4 builds available at the moment.
We’ll have to stick on what we have for now and wait for your review.
