As you can see from the video below, when I run the reload animation (the one that causes the weapon magazine to move), the weapon itself becomes offset from the player. I have tried adjusting the additive and root motion settings in various combinations but cannot get the weapon to maintain its orientation with reference to the player. The animation itself was created in blender. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this?
From your video, the magazine is already offset. Can you show how/when it gets offset?
My bad, the video got cropped weird. I just reuploaded it correctly. When it starts, and after firing, the weapon mesh shows in the correct location, but as soon as the reload animation is triggered, it becomes offset/misaligned.
Is the weapon a mesh or skeleton armature?
It is a skeleton armature. I am starting to think it might be an issue with how the animation is exported from blender and not one with unreal but I’m not sure.
It looks like a parenting problem. How do you attach a magazine to the hand?
The magazine never actually gets attached to the hand (it is attached as a static mesh component on the gun itself), there is just an animation that is played on the weapon armature that moves the magazine at the same time as the animation that is played on the users arm skeletal mesh.
Can you show how you are attaching the magazine to hand?
