We are using SVN in a few remote ways, one with out own server and on a couple of projects using CloudForge. Normal use of SVN (using Cornerstone on the Mac) it fine as is command line etc. But within UE, it is checking with the remote server every time we add or modify files, This is very very slow and time consuming. Would it be possible to stop it checking for locks etc?
To repro it, make a free account on CloudForge.com, add your project, connect in the Editor then try and add or edit an asset.
I have the same issue. I’m using SVN with cloudforge.com I moved 8 files in the editor and it took approximately 3 minutes. It is always very slow. Making changes on the command line doesn’t have this issue.
This is a big problem for me also. SVN performance is really bad, I assume it is checking for locks. It would be nice to have a lock-less connection. Please Epic, or you can just make it super fast
Unfortunately, for the moment we need to force lock the files so people cannot concurrently edit them. This is because we cannot merge our binary assets.
There is however some internal effort underway to improve this situation and allow for merge-based workflows, which eventually should result in a ‘lockless’ behaviour when using SVN.
