Bug description: When using any painting tools (Vertex/Blend Paint or Landscape Scult/Paint) the Unreal 4 Editor fails to remember old viewport settings if Play In Editor (PIE) is used while editing. More specific the viewport realtime mode is always enabled after exiting Paint Mode, if PIE mode was used while editing.
How to replicate:
- Open any old or new project
- Turn off realtime mode of viewports by pressing Ctrl+R (do
this only if mode was on!) - Add static mesh into world and enter Paint Mode by pressing Shift+2
OR Add landscape into world and
enter Landscape Mode by pressing
Shift+3 - (note) Viewports are now updating in realtime as they should
- Now press Play or Right click scene and press Play From Here to go
into PIE mode - Exit PIE mode
- Exit Paint mode or Landscape mode
- Viewports are still set to update in real time, editor fails to
remember settings because of PIE
session in between
Expected behaviour:
After exiting Paint Mode the viewports should not be in realtime mode, if they were not in realtime mode when Paint Mode was entered. If you do these steps, but do not enter PIE mode in between, then editor remembers settings.
Not a very severe bug, but it bugged me for so long why I had to toggle Realtime mode off so many times while painting.
Version: 4.15.1
EDIT: Formatting is a bit off, dunno whats up with the list…
