Using Masks with laserscan data

I am combining laserscan data (e57) and photos, as with all scan data I have some unwanted people and objects included in the scan data. Does the masking workflow already described ( https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017819280-How-to-reconstruct-objects-from-all-sides-using-masks-from-RealityCapture ) also work on laserscan data as it does on images.

I have tried unsuccessfully several times, imported scan data, aligned and created a mesh, filtered out the unwanted elements, then exported the mask. WHen I start a new project and import the folder containing scan data(.lsp) together with same_name.lsp.mask.png it is recognised in the 2D display as a mask, but it does not function as expected when I re-mesh the data.

Hello,

It is not possible to use image layers (which means masks too) with LSP files.

They can be imported, but they cannot be used for processing.

I would like to add masking scans to a feature request.

At the very least it should inform you that the masks will not work when adding them. To have them appear to be added and working when they don’t is a problem. I would describe that as a bug.

@gregdowning, the request was added to our database.
