Are there any plans to give people the option to choose which code editor they want to use for editing Verse? I am used to working with VS Code 2022 and would like to keep working with that one like I do in both Unreal and Unity.
Hi, although I don’t work at Epic Games, I’m 80% sure that unfortunately there won’t be Unity because Unreal is made by Epic and Unity is a competitor.
To explain this more, let me say a little more:
Unreal is an engine, as I said, created by Epic Games and Unity was created by Unity Technologies. Due to Unity’s competition with Unreal, the chance of Unity appearing in UEFN is low, considering that UEFN is very similar to Unreal, only that instead of C++ it has Verse, but it is almost the same. But when it comes to Blueprints from Unreal, there is a chance that they will appear someday.
I have a request, will you subscribe to my YouTube channel?

Hi thanks for replying to my post. But this wasn’t my question
What I actually asked was support for different code editors. Currently when you press the Verse button in your UEFN project it askes to download Mircosoft VS Code (with the blue icon), but personally I am used to working with Visual Studio 2022 (with the purple icon)
They probably don’t differ much but still I would like to avoid installing more code editors just to be able to edit Verse files.
When I mentioned Unreal and Unity I was also talking about the fact that I use this Visual Studio 2022 code editor for both of these game engines, and since UEFN is based on Unreal Engine I was suprised to find out that I’m currently unable to use my code editor of choice in UEFN.
Or maybe I just can’t find where to set it up
In such a situation I don’t know what to do. Maybe try searching for extensions in Visual Studio 2022, or just change the target application in the Uefn config. Although it’s actually easier to install Visual Studio Code because it doesn’t take up much, it’s just like Notepad.
Alright I’ll do that then untill official support for different editors is available.
Thanks a lot for replying
I’d love to use cursor.ai, which is a VSCode fork. Is that possible?
