Using Cutscenes from Sequencer to build " Dragons Lair" type game?

Is it possible to build a game in which cutscenes are played based on user choices at the end of each sequence? Similar to the 80s arcade game Dragon’s Lair, I would like to build a framework for choice based story telling.

Most of what I have learned about Sequencer clips involves insertion into 1st or 3rd person games… or simply rendering the final clip as a movie. Here is a link to Dragon’s Lair to help understand what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks.

it’s used in a bunch of games nowadays

some people don’t seem to like those kind of games though
