Using bots to test map flow/gameplay

Hello.

Last night I decided to muck about a bit and to my surprise, I now have a really basic arena map going.

Anyway, I am at a point now where I reasonably satisfied with the map and I would like to test how the map flows with bots, if it is possible, but I can’t figure it out

I did a bit of googling but couldn’t really find anything useful.

Thanks.

EDIT: I guess I should be more detailed, I’d like to set up say 5-10 bots that will attack/find me or what ever so I can see how the map flow goes, if it feels to cluttery, or if things don’t work and what I need to change etc that sort of thing…

Here are two tutorials:

://www.youtube/watchKDazrBx6IY (I dont know if this still works, because I heard something that the “move to location” doesn’t work anymore)

Thank you. I’ll go through them tomorrow and see what does or doesn’t happen.

As for now, I am having problems with rebuilding the lighting, I go to select production quality, than click build lighting, the box that appears when it says it’s starting the swarm agent appears and very quickly disappears

Does it also disappear in the systray? (there should be a little swarm icon when you build your light) + have you started the UE4 with admin rights?

It doesn’t appear in the system tray. I just get the box coming up very quickly, can’t even read it, and than it goes and nothing else happens.

Hard to say what could be wrong, but probably this message shortly pops up: https://answers.unrealengine/questions/59983/bug-unreal-editor-421-light-build-failed-swarm-fai-1.html

No dice, still doing the same thing, started swarm agent manually, still does the same thing.

I don’t get any error messages saying swaragent failed to start or anything.

I am guessing there’s a bug somewhere in the map or something?

Only thing I can think of

What exactly is in your map? + which light settings do you use?

Btw, I could you also post the light build problem onto answerhub? https://answers.unrealengine/index.html

Okay, well it’s definitely a problem with the map somehow.

I deleted all my lighting stuff but two directional lighting, also tried it with one directional lighting, same thing.

When I went to delete the last directional lighting it said it was referenced by character so I didn’t delete it.

Should I try deleting all directional lighting and doing that all from the start?

I did a test with another map, just placed a box and some stairs and did a lighting build and it all started fine, so that tells me there’s something up with my map.

I did a map check and it reported back no errors.

EDIT: can maps be too big to be able to run a lighting rebuild? I doubt my little basic arena map is too big.

I’m at a loss now. I have light mass importance volume in.

EDIT: I am on 4.3 if it helps?

Welp…

That’s me throwing in the towel…

Did a bunch of cleaning up on the map tonight.

-Removed objects that collided with one another as much as I could

-Tidied up some of the more complex areas that previously had gaps and **** in them by using box geometry and stuff and filling it in

-Did a general clan up to make sure things were level with the map and weren’t sticking out as much as I could

  • Did a test build and built it as messy as I possibly could to see if the light build worked, it did.

So it’s almost definitely a problem with the map but I honestly cannot figure it out.

I guess I’ll make a post on answer hub tomorrow night but for now I need to sleep on it.

I guess in an unexpected way this problem has been kind of good, as it is pushing me into figuring out how to clean up a map and as I did it I found areas I forgot to texture before, so I guess that’s a plus haha.

Thanks for been patient with me but I guess it’s time to make a post on answer hub
