Using an RC model with textures in CAD

Hi All,

I am successfully able to export my model to .stl, .obj, point cloud formats to open the model in CAD software (Solidworks, SpaceClaim, etc.), but as the models are simply meshed facets, the textures and colors are lost in the process.

I noticed the textures can be exported separately, and RC can re-incorporate those textures onto a model even after the mesh is simplified, but is there any way to use the textures in a CAD software?

For instance, there are “filename”.rcinfo and “filename”_u1_v1.png files which I assume have relevant information

Any suggestions for using a RC model with textures in CAD?

Dear user,
I do not have an experience working with CAD software, but I suppose you could succeed with importing and obj or stl with vertex color information (Colorize button in RC). This is written directly in the model file and not a separate texture file which should make it easier to read.
