I was wondering if it is possible to speed up Lighting calculations using the Amazon EC2 cloud servers?
I imagine that if you have an Amazon server in the cloud which is accessible by your local Swarm Manager then it will automatically add a cloud-based swarm client to the cluster.
As far as I can see the two issues are:*
1)******The swarm client being able to run on Windows Server
2)******Having enough bandwidth to transfer the assets up and the results back down.Has anyone tried using Amazon’s EC2 with Swarm? Does anyone know what sort of network connection is needed?
Big games usually have a render farm for this. Building lighting on a finished level on a single machine could take several days, so by using a render farm you could get it done much faster which would be very good for production.
For the connection, you can set up a VPN to make the Amazon servers and your computer in a virtual LAN.
I think the most problematic part is the bandwidth.
