I have a project in mind that would involve 2d objects in a 3d world. Players should be able to create their own 2d images in gimp or paint.net and use them to overwrite the default images. These objects will mostly be skeletal meshes consisting of planes and the 2d images will be textures plugged into the materials on the mesh. Is there any reasonable way to achieve this in UE4?
You can check out Rama’s plugin that includes being able to load an image file to a Texture2D at runtime, which uses the Image Wrapper Module.
The C++ code is shown in the post as well.
