USD workflow in UE5 - what's the current status and what's the plan? (am I doing it right?)

Hi all,

I’m a solo 3d generalist doing motion graphics.

I work in houdini and wanted to use Unreal 5.0 to render out a project I’m working on.
It’s multiple short videos set in the same environment and my plan was this:

Do it all in houdini / USD - set up a USD stage in Unreal for materials/rendering and lighting.

The materials bit has me stumped though - I can’t really create USD materials in Houdini that work in Unreal (almost but USDTransform2D doesn’t seem to work so no tileable textures).

So essentially keep USD stage + overrides in Unreal.

Any suggestions and thoughts will be appreciated!
I am super fresh to unreal so I might be missing something obvious.
I understand USD is beta and not final form.
