Uproject file corrupted, or seems so

I’ve been developing a game for about a year now, and I had to use CTRL+Alt+Del to close the UE5.3 editor. After doing so, the UE IDE says this:

And it proceeds to say it has out of date modules and should be built another way.

I am very stuck, I might lose my whole project if no one helps form UE/forum.

I have tried copying another ealier backup that is a hard backup not from GitHub, I used GitHub LFS, but it doesn’t seem to be rolling back even after removing the current files that were not committed. It also has an issue. I am wondering if perhaps reinstalling UE 5.3 might be the answer?

Try this:

Delete the .vs, Saved, Intermediate, Binaries folders and the .sln file, then right click on the .uproject file, more options, and click on the regenerate project files option.

Hope this helps :innocent:

Disclaimer:
Always make sure to have a backup of your project before manually adjusting the project files!!!

Well I tried your method, and it didn’t work, however, I had a backup about 3 months back, and I copied that, added the Content folder, then it loaded everything as it was. Seems to be working just fine! Probably because the metadata are similar enough that everything fits in place for the most part.

Although that appears to be working, I am having difficulty saving changes in the new version. What can I do? It keeps asking me to retry a save.

You trust your computer too much

To start, create backups (to a separate storage device) at least every day (or whenever you’ve done something and it’s working as intended).

Next you can try creating a new project and copy the content into it.

Can you take a screenshot of this?
