upload unreal project to github

Is it safe to push an Unreal project to GitHub by making an empty repo on GitHub and then copying the files of the Unreal project into the GitHub repo folder?

I use this method with Unity, and it works fine, but is it safe for Unreal projects? Or can it cause conflicts?

im using version 4.27.2

Yes, you can repo Unreal projects on gihub with no problem, I do it all the time.
