I’m nearing early release and need advice on how to store the project for updates and what’s the standard pipeline for updating the application. Where should I look for advice on this? How much will it be possible to change the engine source code upon release? Thanks for any tips
I did not release anything yet, but should be a problem at all. You just provide the packaged files. If you update, you provide new packaged files. The only issue is if you make changes to your save files (save state of the game) and can’t read in old saves. In early access games this is normal behavious as your game grows and you need to make changes to the save files. Unfortunately, this should not happen to often, and never should happen after release.
